‘They had so much love to give’ July 14, 2025
“In May of 2019, we brought home two very special cats from the Humane Society—John Robie and Slim (though they were originally named Butter and Breadbasket). They were a bonded pair, just a year old, and had already spent some time at the shelter, even being returned once after an overnight stay.
We could tell right away that they had so much love to give, and we were happy to bring them home. Slim is the more adventurous of the two, quickly earned her title as the “athlete” in the family. She loves to run, jump and explore, and we are very amused by her sweet antics. John Robie is our sweet, observant lap cat. He watches us closely and loves to find an open lap. Both cats are excellent talkers, and it is fun to carry on conversations with them.
Since we are now retired, we get to enjoy lots of quality time with these two much-loved kitties. We are so grateful to the Nebraska Humane Society for caring for them during their time there and giving us the opportunity to bring them home.”
