‘The best $58 we’ve ever spent’ June 22, 2025

“I was looking through the available dogs on the NHS website one Friday night and found Roman, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix and told my wife she had to go meet him.

She went first thing in the morning to meet him. He was nervous, so he peed a little bit before they played with a tennis ball and she said she knew we needed to take him home. We adopted Roman, now Red for $58, and we always say it was the best $58 we’ve ever spent.

Red loves to play fetch, go on walks and sleep. He’s truly the best dog, and it’s all thanks to the Nebraska Humane Society!”
