‘She will always be loved and safe’ June 28, 2025

Sparkles the dog sitting inside with a toy

“We had recently lost our Husky mix named Blaze, and our hose felt empty without a dog. We saw Sparkles (NHS Molly) on the website and had to meet her.

She was very shy, and they didn’t know much about her as she was picked up as a stray. We came prepared with tears in our pockets.

At first, Sparkles wasn’t sure what to do. She also didn’t know how to play with toys. Then she went over to my husband, sat next to him and looked up at him. He said “I love her! We’re taking her home.”

We gently helped her get over her fear. She was afraid of so many things. Being outside, birds, planes, car doors closing. Now, four years later, she’s is able to go outside and potty by herself. She is also a PRO at playing with toys. She especially loves balls, and I find her every night when I get off work waiting at the back door with her favorite ball so we can play in the yard.

We still have some reactivity challenges, but she will always be loved and safe in our home.”
