‘She knew she was home’ May 17, 2025
“I wasn’t looking for a dog. I had just put down the last of my three girls, and I was going to wait a while. Two weeks later, Aggie (NHS Squirrel) came home. She has been such a joy.
Aggie was a Diamond Dog. Life wasn’t easy for her before NHS got her. She was scared of people. It took her a bit for her to warm up to us when we met her at the shelter, but by the time we had done all of our paperwork, she was sitting next to me on the bench. She knew she was home the minute she walked in. She’s still scared of people, but she has gotten so much better in the year she’s been with us. She has lots of toys, and loves her big backyard. It’s only been a year, but she’s one of the best dogs I’ve had.”
