‘Our house is warm!’ March 25, 2025

When we went to the Nebraska Humane Society in January of 2024 to get a cat, we brought home the sweetest dog instead.

A volunteer was walking around Thing 2 (now Alfie), and he was so well-behaved we thought he was the resident NHS therapy dog or something. He had just been rescued from the cold, and we thought, “hey, our house is warm!”

While we had some fleeting moments of wondering if we were a little crazy getting a third dog, we are so glad he’s part of the fam now. Not that we pick favorites, but this dog is my shadow. And if I leave the house, even just to take the trash out, he gets so excited when I get back home. I can’t imagine our home without him. 🥹
