‘NHS makes it easy to stick around’ March 18, 2025
My family adopted NHS Chase (we believe that was his name) back in 2012, and now as Jango, he is 14 – still chugging along and still causing trouble.
I began volunteering in April 2023 in enrichment, and started walking dogs as a Canine Companion in June 2023. After just two sessions as a Canine Companion, I knew I wanted to take NHS Skip home.
NHS Skip keeps me moving and brings love into every day, and volunteering with our wonderful volunteers has really brightened my weeks. Being part of the volunteer team has made me incredibly grateful, as I can see firsthand the love Jango, Skip and every other dog receives at NHS while waiting for their forever homes. The dedicated volunteers and organized systems at NHS are huge reasons I continue to enjoy volunteering, even on the coldest, windchill-filled days.
Like many others, I’ve struggled with my mental health, but the animals NHS rescues, combined with the kind and fun atmosphere at the shelter, have been incredibly uplifting. NHS truly makes it easy to stick around!
