‘Making biscuits like it’s serious business’ June 14, 2025
In the winter of 2014, NHS Foster Care reached out to see if I could foster a kitten with frostbite. Having fostered other kittens & cats with injuries, I was comfortable with cleaning wounds, giving pain medicine and changing bandages.
Staff had named her Popsicle, and while she would eventually lose one back foot, the toes on her other back foot, and half her tail to frostbite, she never lost an ounce of her sass or spirit. Popsicle found her permanent home with me after a several months long recovery, and 10+ years later, she’s still making biscuits like it’s serious business, keeping an eye on the neighborhood from the top of the cat tree, and as full of life and tortitude as ever.
I am so thankful for the workers that found her outside in the cold and brought her to NHS, the medical team that saved her, and the foster team for sending her to my house to recover so many years ago.”
