‘He has completed our family’ April 24, 2025
“I walked into NHS a couple times by myself. My husband and I would exchange pictures back and forth. But Tuesday, Nov. 26, we went, debit card in hand, to look at dogs.
On our first round, we fell in like with a dog named Loki, but the guests just before us had chosen him.
I looked at a puppy too young, a mid-size dog too big and my husband went back out to walk the halls again.
He sent me a pic of Yohann, a chihuahua with these big brown eyes. When the employee came back in the room, we showed her the picture. She said he wasn’t available in the system, so she had to check. While she went to check, she brought him in.
He climbed on me and my husband’s laps – he was friendly and just right. When she came back, he was sitting on our lap quietly and she said he had found his people. He was OK to be adopted, so we took him home!
He immediately made himself at home in my bed, the couch and everywhere else. We have since changed his name to Chorizo because he is spicy. Not only did he choose us, he has completed our family and turned our house back into a home. When I get off work, he meets me at the door with his wagging tail and a toy in his mouth. I can’t remember a time without him. Even my teenager has come around!
Thanks, NHS, for this welcome addition to our home and hearts!”
