‘Everyone who met her loved her’ April 21, 2025
“In 2015, we finally decided to foster a dog. We had four kids who were getting old enough to be responsible, so we got on the foster list.
After many, many foster emails, we happened to be at the doctor’s office when I got one. My basketball plalyer daughter was devasted to find out she broke a finger and was out for a while. The email mentioned a four-year-old beagle who had a bladder infection. We decided to give it a try.
It was truly love at first sight. She had been surrendered twice before! We could not figure out why. Ruby was the BEST dog ever. I know many people say that, but she truly was.
The only things she wanted were food and being next to us. She never barked, never had accidents, never cared for walks. The kids would have a rough day at school and then BEAM when they got home to see her. Every day it was “where’s Ruby!!?”
The kids all fought about whose bed she would sleep in. Sadly, she developed IVDD and became paralyzed in December 2022 and we had to say goodbye to her the following February. That was the worst decision and day ever. We have since adopted another dog from another rescue, but she will never measure up to our first and best dog, Ruby. Everyone who met her loved her.”
