“I received a call from a hospice nurse asking if her patient’s dog had been adopted yet.She was calling because the patient was extremely ill, and he wanted to be with his dog one more time. I checked, and the dog was still at NHS.

I went and got the dog the same day and took it the man’s home. When entering the home, the dog ran immediately to his former owner who was in a hospital bed. The nurse videotaped the reunion for the family.

I waited in my car during the reunion because the dog was so excited to be out of the shelter that he was pretty attached to me. After 90 minutes, one of the children brought the dog back out to me.

Two things happened the next day: the man passed away and the dog got adopted by a hospice nurse. The picture is the dog in my car going to see his owner.”
