Cardi thrives in prison foster program April 12, 2025

“Cardi was being fostered through a program that partnered the Nebraska Humane Society and the Nebraska Department of Corrections, where I worked at the time. Essentially, the prison fosters a dog – often one who needs a little extra socialization and perhaps needs to be taught a few manners. Inmates and staff both get time with the dogs, and they do a phenomenal job of giving them the love they need and deserve.

Like many of the staff and inmates, I met her and fell in love. She was well taken care of by her prison foster family, and she was even trained by them when we got her! Thank you to everyone who helped make her adoption possible!”
