‘Blossomed into the most wonderful little dog’ May 13, 2025
“We adopted Moose on November 19, 2021. Moose was 9 months old when he was surrendered to NHS. He must have been badly matted because he had to be shaved while he was sedated.
When we drove him home, he was terrified of the car ride. We quickly learned house training was not a priority for the former owners and little did we know how long that would take.
Moose quickly became seriously attached to our other dog, Max. We like to say Moose LOVES Max and Max tolerates Moose, but now it is mutual love. Nightly romps in our living room bring them both joy.
Over time, Moose grew more comfortable and completely blossomed into the most wonderful little dog. Bringing the leash out of the closet creates the most joyous song and dance show. He also grew to love going for a ride, just the mention of it brings the same song and dance show. Sticking his out the window brings him shear happiness.
The biggest challenge we faced with Moose was potty training, particularly at night. For the first 2 years, I was up with him 1-2 times each night to go outside. On a whim, I put on a doggy onesie, thinking he won’t pee if he has this on and I was right! Moose now puts on jammies every night before bed and sleeps through the night nearly every night. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?!
We are very grateful for NHS for bringing this little fluff ball into our world!”
