‘Best thing that could’ve ever happened’ July 10, 2025
“I adopted Zola (NHS Julieta) on Nov. 7, 2022, when she was 11 months old. I truthfully was not intentionally looking for a dog at the time, as I was only 19 years old in college, living alone with just my best friend.
However, my sister and I always walked by to give all the dogs treats. That’s when we came across Zola tucked back in a corner kennel. I instantly was in love with her and went back before NHS opened the next day to make sure I could be the first in line to meet her!
The staff were AMAZING at helping me with understanding the entire adoption process and next steps! I will admit at first it was very overwhelming with her being an extremely high energy puppy with not an ounce of training and my first time owning a dog on my own. However, I was determined to make it work, and now she is – without a doubt – the best thing that could’ve ever happened to me!!
Over the years, Zola had completed a wide variety of obedience training with classes, training daycare once a week and a personal trainer. Following this, she got her Canine Good Citizen certification!
She now is actively in three different dog sports consisting of flyball, fastcat and dock jumping! She just competed in her first fastcat competition and averaged a speed of 25 MPH! She truly amazes me everyday with how incredibly smart she is, and I couldn’t be more proud with how far she has come! I can’t wait to see where else the world takes us!!”
