‘Another flower to the family garden’ March 26, 2025

Dog in a sweater in front of a Christmas tree

One day, I was cleaning the bathroom and my wife showed me a picture of a puppy named Heledd.

She said, “I think she’s our puppy!” I agreed, so I dropped everything and we drove to the Nebraska Humane Society to meet her.

Our first dog is named Violet, so we wanted to add another flower to our family garden. As we were looking up flower names, we came across “Zinnia.” The zinnia flower is bright, bold, and represents loyalty and lasting friendship. As soon as we met little Heledd, we knew she was our Zinnia girl.

Since July 2024 when we adopted her, she has been a burst of joy in our lives. She has a ton of energy, and has required some patience at times, but it’s impossible not to melt at her wiggle bottom and priceless under bite.

We are so grateful to NHS for bringing Zinnia to our family. After she was found stray twice, we are so grateful to be her forever home!
