Animal control rescues dog from well April 14, 2025
On March 26, the Nebraska Humane Society Animal Control Team was dispatched to rescue a dog trapped in a deep hole full of water – we’ll call it a “well.”
When ACO Johnson arrived, the dog was clinging to the edge with his front paws. We don’t think he could reach the bottom because he became completely submerged at the start of the rescue attempt. Thankfully, Johnson is a pro, and was able to use his catch pole to safely lift the dog out of the water and onto dry land.
As you can tell, the dog – named El Favo – was soaked and terrified. We estimate, based on his condition, that he was in that situation for around three hours. El Favo is now at the shelter – safe, happy and dry! And he’s ready to find a home.
Thank you to all of our Animal Control team, who encounter animals in desperate need of help every day. We appreciate you.
