‘A very special bond’ July 7, 2025

“We adopted Charlie (formally known as Popcorn) in February of 2011. My husband and I had never owned a dog, so we were excited to welcome our new addition!

What we quickly found out was that our friends and family loved Charlie just as much as we did. The first thing we heard when showing up to a gathering would always be “Did you bring Charlie?” “Where’s Charlie?”

Charlie and my parents became especially attached and had a very special bond. Don’t tell the others, but he was definitely the favorite grandchild! 😊

With extremely heavy hearts we said goodbye to Charlie in February after 14 years. We miss him every day. Thank you, Nebraska Humane Society, for giving these pets a second chance at finding a loving home.”
