‘A lasting pair’ June 9, 2025

“We adopted Goose (formerly Anubis) in October 2022 from the Home to Home platform that we found through the Nebraska Humane Society.

Home to Home is great because it allows owners to rehome their animals without the animal ever having to spend time in the shelter. Goose was very trusting and immediately bonded with us. After about a year of having Goose, we sensed that between his active nature and serious separation anxiety, he would love to have a brother.

At the urging of a friend, we visited the Nebraska Humane Society in August 2023 and met Mochi. Staff told us that Mochi had met a few families before us, but that he had shown it would not be a good fit. We planned to bring Goose back the next day so the two could meet to tell us if they would be a good fit together.

We were so happy when the boys got along, and we were able to bring Mochi home with us! Even on the car ride home, the two had already begun to show us signs that they would be a lasting pair!

Goose and Mochi have brought us incredible joy and fulfillment in the short time we’ve had to love them, and we are grateful to the Nebraska Humane Society for our sweet boys!

These days, Goose likes to patrol the yard to ensure no squirrels or birds intrude, while Mochi loves to sunbathe on the patio and chew on sticks. Their favorite games are fetch and tug-of-war, and the hoomans can never seem to win!

We encourage everyone who considers getting a new pet to visit the Nebraska Humane Society, or another area shelter. The work of staff and volunteers changes countless lives, which is demonstrated by the mere 150 pets and families being highlighted in this campaign. Thank you again, Nebraska Humane Society, for bringing our boys home to us and making our family complete!”
